Biography

Lincoln’s introduction to rock climbing took place at the University of Oregon as an undergraduate. During his years studying environmental science and French, he cultivated an interest in rock climbing through the UO’s Outdoor Program. This interest in rock climbing evolved into a passion for understanding climbing movement when he was introduced to route-setting as a student-employee at the Rec Center’s Rock District. In 2017, Lincoln began his career as a professional route-setter and climbing coach at Elevation Bouldering Gym, where he currently manages the route-setting program.

He is passionate about teaching climbing to people at all ability levels, and believes there are many different reasons to appreciate climbing. From his years as a youth-coach and route-setter, Lincoln knows that movement puzzles have various solutions, and that each climber brings a unique mindset to the wall. Route-setters create opportunities for people to engage their minds and bodies in unusual ways. Coaches help to connect climbers with the experience of problem-solving. Climbing is rich with lessons that translate to other arenas of life.

Outside of work, Lincoln enjoys making art, struggles to play the guitar, and sweats a lot during yoga. If he’s not at Elevation, then you’ll probably find him dancing at a concert venue or shopping at the Saturday Market.

Cost of attendance is the estimated cost to attend the UO for the academic year. The Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships provides estimates for cost of attendance information that goes beyond tuition and fees, and includes: living expenses (housing and food), books/supplies/equipment, transportation, and miscellaneous personal expenses.
